What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small piece of data that is stored on your device (mobile phone, computer) when you visit a website or application. A cookie belongs to a certain website or application and cannot be read by others. Cookies are a useful way for services to remember information about your preferences and activity in order to improve your experience.

If you disable all cookies in your default browser, you may have problems signing in to your services with Telenor ID.

Generally, cookies are categorized based on their lifespan and their origin:

Lifespan:

  • Temporary cookies or session cookies are short-term cookies that are used only during your session. They are deleted as soon as you close your browser (or you can choose to delete them sooner).
  • Persistent cookies are long-term cookies that stay on your device for a set period of time before expiring or until you delete them.

Origin:

  • First party cookies come directly from the website you are visiting.

Third party cookies come from somewhere else, for example third party advertising that appears on the website you are visiting.
